James E. Knapp

James E. Knapp, 85, of Alexandria Township, NJ passed away on Saturday October 11, 2014 at his home.
Born July 22, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ, James lived in Alexandria Township since 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy for twenty years and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After his military career, he worked as an electrician for Automatic Communications in Somerville, NJ for over twenty years, before retiring. James enjoyed playing the piano and golfing. He loved the water, especially sailing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
James was an active parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church in Milford, NJ for forty three years and served as an usher.
Son of the late Peter Edward and Alice Marie (Kane) Knapp, James was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret M. (Butler) Knapp in 2005. He is survived by his son Thomas Knapp of Kingwood Township, NJ, two daughters Stacy Ann Apgar and her husband Jeff of Asbury, NJ and Jacquelyn Lucas and her husband James of Readington, NJ, three sisters Margaret McGeehan of Florida, Jeanne Hardke of Georgia and Catherine Brewer of New Jersey, five grandchildren Brook, Tyler and Kelsey Lucas and TJ and Kyle Knapp, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday October 16, 2014 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 61 Mill St., Milford, NJ 08848. Interment will be private at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 – 9 PM at the funeral home.
