Walter R. Monahan of Lebanon Township, NJ died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.
Walter was born in Hillside, NJ on May 30, 1927 the son of the late Michael and Mary (Spara) Monahan and was a long tome resident of Lebanon Township.
He was a member of the Hunterdon Hills Sportsmen’s Association and loved hunting and fishing with his four sons and tagged his last buck at age 85. Walter was an excellent cook comprising several recipe books that are cherished by his family. He was a NASCAR fan and operated a push truck for many years at the Flemington Fair Speedway in Flemington, NJ., and belonged to the Hunterdon Hillbillies Camping Club with his wife Carol
Walter is survived by his wife of 61 years Carol L. (Bulgrien) Monahan, sons Michael of Lebanon Township, NJ, Gary and his wife Diane of Highlands, NJ, Kevin and his wife Marie of Kunkletown, PA, Brian and his wife Cindy of Lebanon Township, seven grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Bobby, Katie, Andy, Nick, Dillon and Claudia, a step granddaughter Dana, three great grandchildren, Brianna, Ryan and Jacob, Step grandchildren Connor and Brooke, sisters Irene Willbergh, Alice Krenz and Kathleen Kasperovich and a brother Russell Monahan.
