Betts Smith, 96 of Tewksbury Township, NJ, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at home. Betts was born on February 1, 1918 in New Rochelle, NY the daughter of the late Alexander and Maude (Lenke) List and was a long time resident of Tewksbury Township. She was a long time member of the Fairmount Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities for CentenaryCollege, Hackettstown, NJ., Hunterdon County YMCA, Skytop Lodge, Inc., Skytop, PA and Camp Speers-Elgibar YMCA, Dingmans Ferry, PA. For twenty four years Betts and her husband Harris sponsored the One Great Hour of Shearing to benefit the Fairmount Presbyterian Church. Betts was an avid knitter using wool from sheep raised by her husband Harris on the family farm. Betts is survived by her, two sons Tim Smith and Todd Smith, Four grandchildren, Sam Smith, Hannah Smith, Kira Smith and Emily Stone, two great grandchildren, Charlotte Stone and Wyatt Stone. In addition to her parents, Betts was pre-deceased by her Husband Harris F. Smith. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5-7pm in the Coughlin Funeral Home, 15 Academy Street, Califon, NJ. 07830. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 11:00AM in the Fairmount Presbyterian Church, 247 County Road 517 Califon, NJ. 07830with burial immediately following in the Fairmount Cemetery in Tewksbury Township, NJ.
